DUKESFEST RIDES AGAIN

Jun 2 2005 Bristol

For fans of the TV classic 'The Dukes of Hazzard," the place to be this summer won't be in movie theaters but instead at Bristol Motor Speedway & Dragway.

"DukesFest' is returning to Bristol and is expected to attract fans from across the nation and the world. The second-annual celebration is set for June 4 and 5 and will look back at the 1979-1985 TV series with two days of music, car stunts and appearances by several members of the cast, including John Schneider, who played Bo Duke, Ben Jones, who played Cooter, Catherine Bach, who played Daisy, James Best, who played Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane, and Rick Hurst, who played Cletus Hogg.

Of course, DukesFest is nothing without the General Lee, the 1969 Dodge Charger made famous by the show. Organizers are expecting about 100 replicas of the car to cruise into Bristol along with hundreds of fans. For a donation to the Special Olympics, fans will be treated to a ride around the track in a General Lee.

DukeFest takes place as work on a big screen version of 'The Dukes of Hazzard' is underway with Tennessee's own Johnny Knoxville playing one of the Duke boys and Jessica Simpson playing Daisy.
