OPRY MILLS GRAND REOPENING CELEBRATION CONTINUES WITH FAMILY FUN, FASHION AND ENTERTAINMENT

Opry Mills Grand Re-Opening celebration continues through Saturday, May 5 with a series of Nashville-style, family-fun events. Festivities during April 28-29 and May 4-6 will include the unveiling of Opry Mills new Tennessee Treasures play area; Trends and Friends, a night of fashion and fun; and Southern Nights, a free grand finale concert headlined by country superstar Josh Turner.
"We are thrilled with the positive response to our Grand Re-Opening and the good news is that there is more to come for our local and out-of-town shoppers," said Tarasina Schneller, director of marketing and business development at Opry Mills. "Shoppers are in for a real treat as we keep the celebration going, showing off Opry Mills great selection of outlet and value retailers, as well as dining and entertainment options for the whole family to enjoy."
Children of all ages will rejoice as the opening of Opry Mills new Tennessee Treasures play area coincides with the return of the Simon Kidgits Club on Saturday, April 28 starting at 11 a.m. Attendees will enjoy interactive games, free giveaways and family-friendly entertainment throughout the weekend. Plus, former Simon Kidgits Club members who were active when Opry Mills closed in May 2010 can visit Guest Services to pick up a new membership card, which has been extended two years past the original expiration date.
Style-savvy shoppers won't want to miss Trends and Friends, beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 4. This free, fashion forward event will feature a series of interactive style presentations, select retailer programming and live entertainment, including a special appearance from Tony Award nominee and country sweetheart, Laura Bell Bundy. Plus, at 7 p.m. local celebrities Aaron Kelly, American Idol® finalist, Stacy McCloud of Fox 17 and Kristin Priesol of NewsChannel 5 will walk the runway showcasing some of Opry Mills' most popular retailers.
Opry Mills will then celebrate its roots in Music City with Southern Nights, a free outdoor concert on Saturday, May 5 featuring country superstar Josh Turner. This grand finale event will also include a performance by the winner of Opry Mills Next Big Star® talent search and a spectacular fireworks display. The evening's festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with Turner scheduled to take the stage at 8:30 p.m.
Concert attendees are encouraged to donate canned goods to Second Harvest Food Bank, one of the largest and most comprehensive of over 200 food banks and food distribution centers nationwide. Second Harvest reports a 25 percent increase in requests for emergency food assistance, meanwhile contributions are down nearly 10 percent. Second Harvest Food Bank's most needed items include peanut butter, canned chicken/tuna, canned soups and stews, cereal, pasta and canned fruit and vegetables.
