NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Standup comedian, storyteller and writer Tig Notaro performs 7:30 p.m. July 23 at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center’s James K. Polk Theater. Tickets are on sale now.
Notaro is a comedian, actor, and writer originally from Mississippi, who Rolling Stone named one of the 50 best stand-up comics of all time. She writes, produces, and stars in the semi-autobiographical Amazon series, “One Mississippi.” The first season yielded several nominations from WGA, GLAAD, and The Critic’s Choice Awards. Notaro also was nominated for an Emmy Award and Grammy Award for her 2016 HBO special “Boyish Girl Interrupted" and a GLAAD Award nomination for the Netflix Original Documentary “Tig." Her memoir, “I’m Just a Person,” is a New York Times bestseller.
In 2013, Notaro was nominated for a Grammy Award for her sophomore release, “Live,” which sold more than 100,000 units in just six weeks. “Live” is a stand-up set delivered just days after she was diagnosed with invasive bilateral breast cancer, of which she is now in remission. Notaro remains a favorite on late night talk shows and public radio. She tours around the world regularly and most recently sold out Carnegie Hall.
Performance schedule, prices, and cast are subject to change without notice. Institutional sponsors for TPAC include Nissan North America and Coca-Cola. TPAC is a nonprofit arts organization funded in part by support from the Tennessee Arts Commission and the Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission.
