NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Join hit songwriters, famous musicians and others to celebrate Billy Block with doors open at noon and the show beginning 1 p.m. April 15 at 3rd and Lindsley. Tickets range $15-$25.
Deemed the “Godfather of Americana,” Block helped launch the careers of Keith Urban, Florida Georgia Line, Miranda Lambert, Chris Young, Kacey Musgraves, Jason Aldean and more with his weekly Billy Block Show until his death in 2015. Proceeds from the event will be donated to MusiCares in Block’s name.
Jim Lauderdale, Danny Myrick, Alyssa Bonagura, Ray Stephenson, Rocky Block, Peter Cooper, Thomm Jutz, Jon Byrd, The Sisterhood, Irene Kelley, Tom Mason, Jason Eskridge, Baillie and the Boys, Michael Dinallo and Charlie Rich Jr. will appear and rejoice in this great man’s accomplishments and enduring mark he left on Music City. Block’s wife, Jill will present the Billy Block Spirit Awards during the concert.
There is a place in history for Block’s tireless work as the first nationally-syndicated Americana radio show producer and host, first Americana TV series producer and host when Western Beat TV aired on CMT, promoter of the Billy Block Show in Nashville and the founder of the Western Beat Songwriters Showcase in Los Angeles He was a record label head, music publisher, journalist, world-class drummer and wants to be remembered most as a loving family man and friend.
