Coal Miners Reunion Hosted at the Coal Creek Miners Museum

ROCKY TOP, Tenn. – A Coal Miners Reunion is hosted by the Coal Creek Miners Museum 4-7 p.m. April 28 at Clinch River Baptist Church in Rocky Top to honor the miners that worked in the Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia coal mines.

There will be a spaghetti dinner, live music, scrip vendors, dessert and gift basket auction, door prizes including $100 cash prizes and t-shirts for sale. At 6 p.m. there will be a program to honor coal miners. Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased at the Coal Creek Miners Museum 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday, online at www.coalcreekminersmuseum.com or at the door at the event.

In addition, the Coal Creek Miners Museum will host hour-long guided tours noon to 3 p.m. of historical sites at Militia Hill, where the militia was stationed during the Coal Creek War; Briceville Community Church; and Leach Cemetery, where Fraterville Miners’ Circle is located.

The guided tours of the historical sites and admission to the museum are free but reservations for the tour are recommended by calling 865-340-3269.

All proceeds from this event will go to fund the remodel of the second floor at the Coal Creek Miners Museum and museum operations.
