LOUDON, Tenn. – In celebration of Halloween and the telling of tales, Visit Loudon County is hosting two, free haunted walking tours 7 p.m. Oct. 24, departing from Bill’s Courtyard Deli and 9 p.m. Oct. 31, departing from Miss Marie’s. Each tour is a loop and will return to Courthouse Square.
Bo Carey, local business-owner and historian, will lead the tours. Each will visit sites 100-200 years old where spirits of the past return time and time again to "keep in touch." See a haunted house few know of, where a man met a mysterious late night demise, where ghosts or spirit-forms have been seen on repeated occasions at an old Civil War hospital site and in four other buildings.
A Cherokee Native American's ghost reportedly appears in Loudon's oldest existing building, and an ancient tree still whispers the saga of a public hanging. Near the end of the tour, see where an epic, live funeral was inspired, then view the room where a local hairdresser met her tragic death.
Reservations are not required for the tours, but attendees are encouraged to arrive early to support these local businesses. Please wear comfortable footwear and bring a flashlight or phone light if you have it.
These tours are not considered scary and open to all ages.
