MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Explore the unusual mourning customs, superstitions, and creepy superstitions via special tours, Flashlight Nights and trick-or-treating at Oaklands Mansion.
A Mansion in Mourning is a guided tour of the mansion that includes mourners who discuss the Victorian era funeral rituals 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays and 1-4 p.m. Sundays with the last tour at 3 p.m. Oct. 15-31 at Oaklands Mansion.
Flashlight Nights take place 7-10 p.m. Oct. 27-28. As visitors explore the dark corners and dimly lit parlors, they will find unusual and curious items. For safety, visitors are asked to bring flashlights. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students and children. These special tours come to an end on Halloween night as the mansion is set to receive visitors for Trick-or-Treating at 4 p.m. until all the candy has been given away. For safety, Oaklands main drive will be closed. Parking is available at Oaklands Park Picnic Pavilion at 427 Roberts Street. Visitors will walk to the mansion to begin the tour.
Finally, trick-or-Treating at the “Old Maney Mansion” is free, open to the public and takes place 4 p.m. Oct. 31 until all candy is given away.
