JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Spirit of Nations Powwow highlights the importance of passing heritage to the next generation 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12 at Patriot Academy in Jefferson City.
In addition to the special performances of traditional Cherokee dances, the “Celebrate the Future” theme includes giving all children in attendance at the powwow the opportunity to participate in some Native games, make crafts and get their faces painted.
The event includes competition powwow dancing in adult, youth and children’s categories.
The powwow features a silent auction, crafts and activities for the children, American Indian arts and crafts for sale, flute music, Indian tacos, a hand drum contest and a special exhibition of Aztec dancing.
Admission is $5 for adults and $1 for children.
Veterans and active duty military personnel are honored with free admission. Parking is free.
