JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – The Yarn Exchange Radio Show presents a performance to celebrate the Halloween season with a production of eerie stories and legends from the region 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at the International Storytelling Center. Tickets for the performance are $5 and are on sale now.
True accounts of the macabre, straight from the pages of local history and lore include the woesome story of Cadet Cox, whose death still remains shrouded in mystery over one-hundred and fifty years later. He is buried at the Historic Rocky Hill Cemetery, and has one of the most visited and photographed tombstones.
Also featured is the gruesome story of Russell Bean’s return. Other interesting tales of Bean are recalled by his seven-times great grandson, who still lives on family property in Greeneville, Tennessee. Bean was the first baby of European descent born in Tennessee, and is buried at the Uriel Cemetery in Jonesborough.
Other stories featured in the show are tales of local descendants who have met mysterious ends, as well as local legends and scary stories, which are brought to life by a cast of regional actors.
Joining the cast this month is musical guest Nate Harris out of Boone, North Carolina, playing an eclectic mix of blues and folk music.
Seating is limited, and reservations are recommended. A limited number of tickets may be available at the door.
