NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nashville Zoo will officially open its newest exhibit, Spider Monkey: Treetop Passage, with a ribbon cutting celebration 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 6 at the Nashville Zoo.
The event will include live music, animals, and announcements from Nashville’s Mayor and Zoo officials.
The addition of Mexican spider monkeys will mark the first monkey species to be housed at Nashville Zoo in more than four years. The covered viewing building will feature materials from around the world including Peruvian textiles and decorative masks. The spider monkey exhibit is graciously funded by Dottie Frist.
Nashville Mayor Megan Barry, Nashville Zoo Board Chair Julie W. Walker, and Nashville Zoo President Rick Schwartz are expected to attend.
Zoo staff will meet media at the front entrance at 9:15 a.m.
