CLARKSVILLE, TN – Feb. 7, 2019 – Swing's the thing on the corner of Franklin and First in Historic Downtown Clarksville as F&M Bank presents the '30s and '40s musical revue “The All Night Strut!” Feb. 14-March 2 at the Roxy Regional Theatre.
Performances run 7 p.m. Thursdays and 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays Feb. 15-March 2 with a 2 p.m. matinee Feb. 23.
A romp through the dance and music of the 1930s and '40s, “The All Night Strut!” is bursting at the seams with jazz, blues, bebop and American songbook standards, weaving together the work of such legendary songwriters as Hoagy Carmichael, Frank Loesser, Duke Ellington, Johnny Mercer, Cab Calloway and the Gershwins.
Kicking off the run is a special Valentine's package, "Martini Night," beginning 6 p.m. Feb. 4 which features an evening of cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, followed by the 7 p.m. performance. Catered by Yada Yada Yada Deli, the evening's menu includes chicken salad in phyllo cups, meat and cheese charcuterie, caprese salad skewers, meatball sliders, twice-baked baby potatoes, assorted desserts -- and, last but not least, vodka and gin martinis. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available. Tickets to "Martini Night" (including the performance) are $50 per person.
“The All Night Strut!” begins its run of performances for the general public 8 p.m. Feb. 15. In keeping with the theatre's traditional pay-what-you-can opening night, all tickets not pre-sold at the regular ticket price will go on sale at 7:30 p.m. that evening for a $5 minimum donation.
Performing memorable standards "Chattanooga Choo Choo," "A Fine Romance" and "It Doesn't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)," Ryan Bowie, Brooke Leigh Davis, Brian Best and Emma Jordan – backed by a live band featuring music director Matthew McNeill on piano, Thad Wallus on bass and Bernard Lott on drums – will move through the Depression Era, World War II and the post-war boom to highlight a slice of yesteryear.
Directed and choreographed by Ryan Bowie, “The All Night Strut!” was conceived and originally directed and choreographed by Fran Charnas, with musical arrangements by Tom Fitt, Gil Lieb and Dick Schermesser and additional orchestrations by Corey Allen. This production is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International. All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
Tickets are $25 (adults) and $15 (ages 13 and under). For tickets and more information, call 931-645-7699 or visit www.roxyregionaltheatre.org.
