PELHAM, Tenn. – The Emmy-winning PBS series Bluegrass Underground will host its March 2019 PBS television tapings live at The Caverns.
Tickets & travel packages for the March 2019 PBS taping of Bluegrass Underground IX go on sale at 11 am central Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019 at www.thecaverns.com. Past tapings have been almost instant sellouts and tickets are expected to go fast.
The iconic musical series continues to present acclaimed classic and cutting-edge artists in one of the world’s most unique music venues. Live tapings of Bluegrass Underground at The Caverns feature three complete artist performances each day in one of the world’s most magical music venues.
Season IX tapings kick off March 29 with three headlining artists: Glen Hansard, Josh Ritter and Amanda Shires. Glen Hansard is an Oscar winner, Grammy nominee and one of the world’s most famous music buskers. He rose to fame as a founding member of the Irish band The Frames followed by an Academy Award for Best Song in the film Once. Josh Ritter, recently re-energized after a collaboration with the legendary Bob Weir, brings his acclaimed musicianship & songwriting to the underground. Amanda Shires showcases her uplifting soprano and rhythms to the cave. Shires is the recipient of the Americana Music Association’s 2017 “Emerging Artist” award is a touring member of her husband’s band Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit.
Mandy Barnett, Lucero and Keb’ Mo’ perform March 30 at The Caverns. Steeped in the traditions of classic country and pop music, Barnett most recently released “Strange Conversation,” an eclectic mix of Americana, R&B, and roots tunes. Raised and musically steeped in the many music traditions of Memphis, Lucero brings their molten hot country-punk. The American blues musician and four-time GRAMMY-Award winner, Keb’ Mo’ has been described as “a living link to the seminal Delta blues” and is a must-see for this special TV taping.
Bluegrass Underground will announce the second half of Season IX, taped May 18-19, on Feb. 8.
The Caverns offers patrons two travel ticket packages that include lodging, deluxe VIP seats close to the stage, coach transport to and from the venue, commemorative merchandise and more. Music lovers can choose between The Monteagle Package, set in the rustic and historic Tennessee lodge, and The Manchester Package with accommodations in a leading national hotel.
