KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Browse the solo art exhibit of Steve Krauss, “Portraits, Double Portraits and More” April 6-28 at Broadway Studios and Gallery.
A reception will take place to celebrate the opening night as part of “First Friday” 5-9 p.m. April 6. Parking is on-site and light refreshments will be served.
Krauss grew up with art being a regular part of his childhood. He took art classes at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and frequent family trips to NYC’s MOMA. Throughout the years, he has branched out using many media types included painting, woodcuts, etching, jewelry, enamel and more.
His later work is made with the help of his model, friend and muse, Allison B where he places her in contemporary settings such as gardens, cafes, homes and village streets.
His paintings display a wide gamut of colors and an engaging style where the artist’s unusual interpretation of realism and perspective are uniquely evident.
He also incorporates patterned silk fabrics as a recurring element to help make a cohesive body of work. Some work of particular note is his “double portraits.” Borrowing from Picasso’s cubist style, these portraits and figures are exceptionally interesting with a combination of two angles of the same subject incorporated into a single image.
BSG is located at 1127 N. Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37917.
