CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (July 11, 2022) - Beginning July 15, you can set your mind to island time as Cumberland County Playhouse presents Jimmy Buffet’s Escape to Margaritaville!
“Everyone is having an amazing time putting this show together,” said Producing Director Bryce McDonald, who directs this production “Every rehearsal feels like a party!”
Imagine a place where the sun is hot, the water’s warm, and the drinks are as cold as they are plentiful. Tully (Playhouse newcomer Brendan Coulter) is a part-time bartender, part-time singer and full-time charmer who thinks he's got life all figured out… until Rachel (Heather McCall, Murder on the Orient Express), a beautiful career-minded tourist steals his heart and makes him question everything.
Rachel has come to the Margaritaville Hotel and Bar with her best friend Tammy (Playhouse newcomer Jenna Leigh Miller) for a bachelorette weekend before Tammy’s wedding to Chadd (Brian Nabors, Cinderella) back in Cincinnati. Here they meet the denizens of the bar: Brick (Daniel Black, Duck Hunter Shoots Angel), J.D. (Bill Macchio, The Drowsy Chaperone), Jamal (Michael Ruff, Driving Miss Daisy), and Marley (Playhouse newcomer Alexandria Bates). Rounding out this talented cast are Jacob Alexander, Christopher Alvarado, Harli Cooper, Toby Davis, Cora Hassberger, DeAnna Helgeson, Briana Hernandez, Delaney Jackson, Lauren Marshall, David Perry, Caitlin Schaub, James Scott, and Riley Wesson.
Escape to Margaritaville features the most-loved Jimmy Buffett classics, including “Cheeseburger in Paradise”, “Margaritaville,” “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere,” “Fins,” “Volcano,” and many more. With a book by Emmy Award winner Greg Garcia (“My Name is Earl,” “Raising Hope”) and Emmy nominee Mike O’Malley (“Survivor’s Remorse,” “Shameless”), this hilarious, heartwarming musical is the beach party you’ve been waiting for!
Take a break from your troubles, make some new friends on the island, and kick back to the soothing sounds of the kettledrum. It doesn’t get much better than this. All you need now is a ticket.
Escape to Margaritaville plays on the Mainstage through September 8, is rated PG-13, and is co-sponsored by Ken and Grace Patton, Fairfield Glade Resort, and Club Wyndham. Tickets can be purchased online at ccplayhouse.com or by calling the Playhouse Box Office at (931) 484-5000. All CCP productions are made possible through sponsor support, with additional support provided by the Tennessee Arts Commission, The National Endowment for the Arts, Playhouse media sponsor The Crossville Chronicle, and Playhouse Season Partners Plateau Pediatrics, Tim and Susan Tewalt, Ken and Grace Patton, Bob and Jaye Emrick, Dr. Edward and Karen Thornblade, and Bucky Burke Home Improvements & Landscaping.
