NASHVILLE, Tenn. – James Beard Award-winning Nashville chef Tandy Wilson announces his second restaurant, Mop / Broom Mess Hall (read as Mop and Broom Mess Hall), slated to open in late August in Nashville’s Germantown neighborhood.
The casual concept will serve Americana cooking with Southern sensibilities, what Tandy grew up eating and now cooks for his family and friends when he’s not in the kitchen at his first restaurant, City House. Set in the former Southern Broom & Mop Co. warehouse in Nashville’s Germantown neighborhood, the space has a spacious bright, dining room with an expansive bar, a chef’s counter and an outdoor patio.
Open for dinner Monday through Sunday, Wilson crafted the menu without expectations or boundaries—the kind of food you eat with your hands. Standouts include Hush Puppy Battered Catfish, Chili Cheese Chickpea Fries and the Barbecue Chicken, served by the quarter or half and inspired by his family barbecues growing up in Tennessee.
Guests can also expect seasonal vegetable-centric dishes such as Marinated Summer Squash with sweet peppers, pumpkin seeds, chip crumbs and Parmesan. Dessert features nostalgic treats like Chocolate Sheet Cake and Lemon Bars. Mop / Broom Mess Hall features a full bar with a focus on custom sodas, mixed drinks, draught beers and an accessible wine list. Additionally, Mop / Broom Mess Hall will not take reservations.
