NASHVILLE, TN – May 31, 2019 – In support of the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum’s current exhibition, “American Currents: The Music of 2018,” the museum will host two special concerts in August in the CMA Theater.
The first is an acoustic performance by John Anderson on Thursday, Aug. 8. Songwriters Brad Clawson, Rodney Clawson and Nicolle Galyon will perform together on stage Tuesday, Aug. 20. All four performers are featured in “American Currents: The Music of 2018,” which carefully examines the noteworthy figures and events in country music’s recent past.
An Evening with John Anderson – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8
Country traditionalist Anderson, known for his hits “Swingin’,” “Seminole Wind,” and “Straight Tequila Night,” will take the stage for an intimate, acoustic evening. On his latest album Goldmine, released on his Bayou Boys label, Anderson, an award-winning songwriter, either wrote or co-wrote 12 of the album’s 13 tracks. Anderson’s performance will feature his current work as well as his classic country hits.
The Family Behind the Songs: Brad Clawson, Rodney Clawson and Nicolle Galyon – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20
Brad Clawson, Rodney Clawson and Nicolle Galyon are a songwriting family that has produced numerous top country singles. During this show, each will discuss the story behind their chart-topping compositions.
Hit-creating master Rodney Clawson has written more than 30 Top 10 country singles, including No. 1 songs for Jason Aldean (“Burnin’ It Down”), George Straight (“I Saw God Today”), Luke Bryan (“Drunk on You”), Blake Shelton (“Sure Be Cool If You Did”) and Florida Georgia Line (“Dirt”).
Rodney’s wife Galyon has penned songs for numerous artists including Miranda Lambert, RaeLynn, Keith Urban and Dan + Shay. In 2018, she co-wrote “Tequila,” a smash for Dan + Shay and also partnered with Cuban-American pop singer Camila Cabello to write “Consequences.” Galyon also had a hand in writing “Female” and “Coming Home,” both hits for Keith Urban.
Brad Clawson, Rodney’s son, is an up and coming songwriter. He scored his first No. 1 in 2018, when he co-wrote “Up Down,” a hit for Morgan Wallen, with Florida Georgia Line.
