TOWNSEND, TN – Oct. 9, 2019 – The 4th annual Grains & Grits, a festival of southern spirits and gourmet grub will return Nov. 9 to the Townsend Visitors Center. This is a 21 years and older event and will take place rain or shine.
Grains and Grits provides an intimate sampling event, offering something for consumers, foodies, bartenders and spirit professionals alike. The renowned event will continue its focus of bringing together whiskey lovers and distillers from across the state to celebrate the culture of whiskey, spirits and distilling in Tennessee.
Culinary enthusiasts will be able to enjoy a wealth of delectable food samplings that highlight the area’s unique culinary offering while ensuring guests at the event are satiated.
The festival is conveniently located along the Tennessee Whiskey Trail and will showcase whiskey legends of the state, such as Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg and George Dickel Distillery in Tullahoma, as well as craft distilleries like Old Forge Distillery in Pigeon Forge, Old Glory Distilling Co. in Clarksville and H Clark Distillery in Thompson’s Station.
A new addition to this year’s event is a craft cocktail tent that will feature unique concoctions made from the featured spirits at the festival. Grains and Grits will sell craft brews from Blount County Home Brewers and Sevier County Home Brewers. Townsend-native Cades Cover Cellars will provide samples of their wines.
For the event’s culinary aspect, chefs from throughout the region will team up with distillers to demonstrate how whiskey can be used as a culinary ingredient, providing tastings for attendees.
The festival is arranged and hosted by the Tennessee Distillers Guild and the Smoky Mountain Tourism Development Authority.
Tickets for Grains & Grits are $65 online or $75 the day of the event and include live entertainment, whiskey and food tastings.
