ADAMSVILLE, TN – May 14, 2019 – The Buford Pusser Home and Museum will host the 2019 Sheriff Buford Pusser Festival May 23-25 at the Buford Pusser Memorial Park in Adamsville.
The fun begins Thursday night with USA Championship Wrestling 6 p.m. featuring a title match between Bill “Superstar” Dundee and “Dangerous” Doug Gilbert. Steve Warren will perform 7:30 p.m. at the Pavilion in the park. He will sing songs of Conway Twitty, George Jones, Johnny Cash and more.
Hop on the bus tour on Friday that goes to the famous ambush site of Buford and his wife, Pauline, iconic places on the Tennessee/Mississippi State Line and then at the courthouse where Sheriff Pusser’s granddaughters will serve lunch. Friends of Buford’s will be at the courthouse during lunch telling tales and answering questions. Also tour the old jail on the top floor of the courthouse which has been recently renovated. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the museum at 731-632-4080.
An additional bus tour including the movie sites of Chester County will be offered Saturday. Those who reserve a seat on the annual festival bus tour receive a discount on the movie site tour.
Jeff Bates will open for headliner, Ronnie McDowell beginning 6 p.m. Friday night. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to enjoy the free concert.
Saturday kicks off with the memorial 5K run at 8:30 a.m. The Car & Bike Show is 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The festival opening ceremony at 11 a.m. honors officers who died in the line of duty in 2018. Buford Story Telling will take place 3 p.m. at the Senior Citizen’s Center.
Music will take place all day Saturday with performances by The Wayne Jerrolds Band at 1 p.m. followed by Buckshot Daisy, Bryan Moffitt and country music artist Wade Hayes.
