KNOXVILLE, TN -- March 22, 2019 – East Tennessee’s own listener supported radio WDVX expands the station’s talent, adding two icons known for their experience within Americana, bluegrass, traditional country and gospel genres.
An award-winning performer and member of internationally-acclaimed bluegrass bands including Mountain Heart, Grasstowne, and Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, Steve Gulley is revered in bluegrass circles as well as traditional country and gospel genres. Gully will now host WDVX’s “Rize and Shine” morning show. Featuring bluegrass with some country classics thrown in, “Rize and Shine” airs 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. ET Monday through Saturday at 89.9 FM and streams live at www.wdvx.com.
Co-owner of his own recording studio, The Curve in his native Claiborne County, Gulley will continue to tour and record solo and with his current band, Steve Gulley & New Pinnacle. Additionally, he will present his monthly Cumberland Mountain Music Show in the Cumberland Gap Convention Center and host an annual Acoustic Music Week with Steve Gulley on the LMU campus. Gulley boasts a long history with WDVX, having helped with fundraising efforts and performed many shows since it’s 1991 launch.
With over 30 years in the radio industry, Anne Williams joins the WDVX team as Operations Manager and Development Director bringing extensive experience across management, operations, on-air, and engineering roles with her. An earlier champion of Americana, Williams made the newly-formed genre the focus of the “Acoustic Sunrise” show she hosted at WNRN in Charlottesville, Virginia for 20 years.
