MEMPHIS, Tenn. – This year's Central Gardens Home & Garden Tour takes place 1-6 p.m. Sept. 9 at sites along Belvedere, Peabody, Central and Glenwood Place.
While most of the proceeds will continue to be utilized to further enhance the neighborhood, for the first time ever, the Central Gardens Association will donate a portion of the proceeds to the nonprofit, Dorothy Day House.
Dorothy Day, whose goal is to keep homeless families together while creating a safe haven for entire families, is opening a home at 1178 Peabody adjacent to the Central Gardens neighborhood. The donation is meant to serve as a welcome and house warming as Dorothy Day welcomes families to its newest location.
Central Gardens is considered a premier historic neighborhood in the South. The Home & Garden Tour welcomes visitors from across the region as they tour homes that have been lovingly preserved, many for over a century. Proceeds from the Central Gardens Home & Garden Tour help the Association maintain the historic character of the neighborhood and to protect its Level III Arboretum and other beautification initiatives.
