MILLINGTON, Tenn. – Memphis International Raceway has announced its events schedule for 2019, solidifying the raceway as a premier motorsports destination in the Mid-South.
Major events include NASCAR, USAC and CRA Late Models at Memphis International Raceway’s 3/4-mile oval track. The drag strip features more than 150 days of racing action with such events as the Super Chevy Show and various forms of the popular Street Outlaw races.
Memphis International Raceway will host the season opener for the USAC Silver Crown Champ Car Series with the Memphis 100 on March 23. The open-wheel cars bring a new level of excitement to the ¾-mile oval. Past Silver Crown champions include some of the biggest names in motorsports like A.J. Foyt, Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart.
The 33rd annual Super Chevy Show, the premier destination for all things Chevrolet, comes to Memphis International Raceway April 5-7 featuring drag racing, a vendor midway and a massive swap meet to find those hard-to-locate parts, and the largest collection of Chevrolet vehicles from modern to classic in one place.
The NASCAR K&N Pro Series returns for a third consecutive year with the Memphis 150, presented by AutoZone on Saturday, June 1. It’s a chance to see the future stars of the sport in NASCAR’s only visit to the Mid-South region. The last two Monster Energy Cup Series champions, Joey Logano and Martin Truex, Jr., came through the K&N Series as did many other current stars including Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson and defending Daytona 500 champion Austin Dillon.
Late Model racing returns July 21 to Memphis International Raceway with the JEGS/CRA All-Star Tour and the Masters of the Pros race. The 125-lap race will pay a minimum of $10,000-to-win and promises to deliver incredible short-track action with drivers battling it out for the coveted green jacket.
Finally, champions around North America meet Oct. 18-20 for the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit SuperSeries World Finals, the most prestigious national championship in bracket racing.
New events at the drag strip include the Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras Blowout March 1-5 with both radial prepped and no-prep racing, along with three days of fire-breathing Jet Cars; the Mid-West Pro Mod Series Sept. 13-14, the 901 Bad Boys Grudge racing on four select Sundays and more. The popular Bracket Racing and Test n Tune sessions return as they compete for end-of-season-points championships.
