Memphis, TN – Sept. 4, 2019 – The Memphis Japan Festival, celebrating Japan’s people and culture, will be held 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 29 at Memphis Botanic Garden.
Special half-price admission to Memphis Botanic Garden will apply on Festival day, compliments of Festival sponsors, Memphis Botanic Garden and co-hosts the Japan-America Society of Tennessee and the Consulate General of Japan in Nashville: $5 per adult and $2.50 for children 12 - 3 years old. Admission is free for Memphis Botanic Garden members and children under 2 years.
The Festival will be held outdoors, rain or shine, and will feature a full day of traditional and contemporary Japanese music and dance performances and tours of the Japanese Garden. A roving Japanese “candyman,” Taiko drummers, sumo-suit wrestling, “Hello Kitty” and “Ninja Turtle” bounce houses, cosplay and kimono fashion shows, martial arts on the lawn, Japanese food, children’s activities and performances by KAZHA are just some of the events.
