MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Orpheum Theatre Group will offer six opportunities for the public to tour 10 a.m. and noon Aug. 13, 20, and 27 the Orpheum Theatre and the Halloran Centre for Performing Arts & Education. Tours will last for approximately 60 minutes.
As guests make their way through the opulent art deco rooms of the Orpheum, docents will tell the history of this incredible building. Learn about how dedicated Memphians in the early 1980s saved the theatre from demolition. Delight in the colorful and creative murals that stars and productions have painted on the backstage walls. Find out about Mary, the Orpheum’s sweet and mischievous little ghost.
Next door at the Halloran Centre, guests will see how the nonprofit mission is put into practice. The 39,000-square-foot venue is the home of education programs and the Orpheum’s second venue. Learn how this beautiful and state-of-the-art building serves 50,000 students, teachers, and families each year. And, see why so many performers and music lovers enjoy the intimate performances and listening experiences.
Admission is $10 per person, cash only at the door (no admission fee is required for children younger than 5). Guests are encouraged to arrive at least 15 minutes before their preferred tour time to ensure time to pay and secure their spot. All proceeds benefit the Orpheum Theatre Group’s nonprofit mission.
