BELL BUCKLE, TN – May 13, 2019 – The 25th annual Bell Buckle RC-MoonPie Festival takes place 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 15 in downtown Bell Buckle.
Known as the first “fast food” meal, these two Southern traditions, RC and a MoonPie, are brought together for a grand celebration. This year’s festival will be a celebration of music, food, entertainment, games, a parade and more.
The festivities begin with the certified 10 Mile and 5K runs. All runners will receive a commemorative t-shirt, awards for division winners plus finisher medals for every finisher, and breakfast complete with RC’s and MoonPies.
Every festival king and queen from years past is invited. Some of the most popular moments from the last 25 years will also be called for an encore performance.
Davis and Dayle will provide acoustic entertainment that includes their other vocal characters. Additional performers include Knights of the MoonPie Round, The Howlin’ Brothers Band and the MidState Cloggers.
The RC-MoonPie Parade features the Color Guard, the 1950 Bell Buckle Fire Engine, the high school band, and so much more ending with the grand finale of the King(s) and Queen(s). The re-coronation of all the festival royalty will take place.
Additionally, there will be more than 75 booths offering an array of art and crafts. Compete in contests like the hula-hoop contest which includes eating a MoonPie and drinking an RC; balancing an RC on your head while walking across the stage; and a MoonPie toss. The day ends with the serving of the World’s Largest MoonPie, baked fresh at the Chattanooga Bakery and personally delivered in all its finest gooey delight.
It is easy to see why this perennial favorite has earned the nod from the Southeastern Tourism Society Top 20 events multiple times as well as being a highlighted feature in Southern Living, Food Network and USA Today..
