MORRISTOWN, TN – Feb. 5, 2019 – To celebrate the inaugural Tennessee Songwriters Week, the last full week of February, “Tennessee Songwriters Retrospective: Pickers & Pros” will take place 7 p.m. Feb. 23 in Rose Center’s Prater Hall. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Rose Center Council for the Arts, in partnership with Visit Morristown, will bring five regional songwriters together for an intimate look at the process of making music in East Tennessee.
Moderated by Rose Center’s own songwriter, Candy Durman, the show will take place in a round-robin style, with the performers taking turns. Joining Durman on stage are Toby Gibson of the band Tom’s Handgun; Andrea Davidson, whose vocal talents have earned her great buzz in Nashville as an up-and-coming performer; Peter McKeown, who has released music and performed under many names with bands, songwriters, and acapella groups in the past. Currently, he is on the cusp of releasing his first batch of songs under his given name; local songwriters Angela Woofter and Denny Cluck.
The last full week of February has been designated “Tennessee Songwriters Week” by the state legislature. The bill, cosponsored by Representative Terri Lynn Weaver, Representative David Hawk, and Senator Rusty Crowe, was passed in the legislature and signed into law by former Governor Bill Haslam in 2018.
Tickets are available at the door for general admission table seating. Guests are permitted to bring light snacks and adult beverages. Tickets are $10 per person.
The performance is generously sponsored by Visit Morristown of the Morristown Chamber of Commerce.
