Shiloh, Tenn. (June 6, 2022) – Shiloh National Military Park is pleased to announce two special ranger-led hikes in June entitled “Nelson’s Division Pushes the Left” on Saturday, June 11, and Saturday, June 25. Follow Ranger Timothy Arnold and retrace the steps of General William “Bull” Nelson's Division as they pushed the Confederate right flank.
Participants will learn about General Nelson and his three brigade commanders. Ranger Arnold will discuss their struggles to finish off the Confederates in Sarah Bell’s Farm and the stubborn Confederate counterattacks.
The hike will take place from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm on both Saturdays and hikers will meet at the park Visitor Center before driving out to the starting point of the hike. The distance of the hike is about 2 miles over moderate terrain. Participants should wear clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather. Insect repellent, sunscreen, and water is recommended.
