MEMPHIS, TN – March 20, 2020 – The Pink Palace Museum in Memphis, Tennessee received eight Awards of Excellence from the Tennessee Association of Museums.
The awards are given in a variety of categories. The Excellence Awards recognize, encourage, and promote excellence within the activities of the Tennessee museum community.
Each entry is presented to the Tennessee Association of Museums Awards Committee which is composed of six regional representatives, three at-large representatives and the committee chair. The committee makes the final judging and decisions of awards. Awards are based on creativity, originality, resourcefulness, success, support of museum mission statement, and utilization of staff and volunteers.
The Pink Palace Museum won in the following categories:

Permanent Exhibits - Audience engagement components in the Pink Palace Mansion Renovation Project
Temporary Exhibits – “Making Memphis: 200 Years of Community” Exhibit
Traveling Exhibits – “Memphis' Bicentennial Goes to Poland!”
Volunteerism – Lichterman Nature Center Plant Propagation Volunteers
Educational Programming - “Memorable Memphians”
Special Events - Storytelling with Jimmy Ogle
