MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Stax Museum of American Soul Music has recently changed their hours to be open seven days a week, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in June and July.
In order to make up for revenue lost on Memorial Day weekend due to loss of power during a major thunderstorm, the Stax Museum, which is normally closed on Mondays for maintenance and other issues, is now open every Monday during the months of June and July.
“We welcome visitors from around the world back to the Stax Museum, but we particularly hope the citizens of Memphis will take this opportunity to support us by visiting the museum, bringing guests, shopping in our gift shop, and considering becoming Stax Museum members,” said Tim Sampson, Stax Museum spokesman.
The Stax Museum offers a wide variety of programming in June and July including live music on Tuesdays and youth-oriented workshops. Revenue from the Stax Museum also helps fund programming at the adjacent Stax Music Academy.
