What: 1st Annual Bell Buckle Car Cache and Pig Pick
When: May 29, 2021 Saturday 9:00 am until 4:00 pm
Where: Bell Buckle, Tennessee
Who: Bell Buckle Chamber of Commerce
Going stir crazy? That “Home is Where the Heart Is” sign have a few darts sticking in it? Want to get out but not quite sure about herd immunity being a thing right yet? Well, Bell Buckle hears you! And we have the perfect cure for the house bound blues!
Load the car and get to Bell Buckle on Saturday, May 29th for a safety structured event that will make fun zoom out of you! (you get the reference, right?) We’re so giddy about this that we’re making dumb jokes. But ok, back to business. Here’s the deal. We’re going to have a “scavenger hunt in a car”. A combination of Geocaching, car rallying and virtual treasure hunting, but you never have to leave your car (unless you want to and that’s up to you!). Once you’re registered, you will receive instructions on locations(caches) located within a one-hour radius of Bell Buckle. Each find will be allotted different points. You can pick your own course of action: go for the locations closest to Bell Buckle, go for the ones farther away with the higher point values or go to the places that interest you the most. Only thing is that before the clock strikes 3pm, your point sheet must be back in Bell Buckle and turned in for your points to be tallied. By 4 o’clock all points will be totaled, and prizes will be awarded!
At each location, you will find the answer to the corresponding question on your point sheet to prove that you were there. Box lunches will be an option to all those who pre-register.
This is a great opportunity to have a little competitive fun with friends you haven’t seen in a blue million years, everyone safely distanced in their own car. The more the merrier as these little hints are so easy to spot! It’s a challenging game but oh so much fun. The locations will be oh so very informative and historical. Once you have finished it, you may be hooked so we’ll give you more information on actual Geocaching along the Jack Trail and South Central Region sites. Be forewarned: once you start, it’s hard not to get hooked on this kind of fun! And it’s safe! You truly do not have to get out of your car if you so choose.
First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded to those with the most points. A whole pig will be raffled off during the day with the drawing held after the Car Cache points are tallied. So you could go home and literally pig out for your Memorial Weekend celebration! A live feed will keep everyone looped in and up to date on the Car Cache rally tally. All information will be distrusted at registration between 9am-10am in downtown Bell Buckle. Location will be determined closer to event time. Registration information will be on the Bell Buckle Chamber of Commerce website beginning March 1, 2021.
Bell Buckle continues to strive to be a safe environment for all those who live here and visit. And we encourage everyone to continue to be safe always. And yes, a scavenger hunt in a car checks all the boxes: fun, safe, mind challenging, and a day amongst friends whether you just stay with those you know or mingle safely around town and make a few new ones!
Historic Bell Buckle, Tennessee- close to home but a world away.
