Team Behind Mantra Artisan Ales Reveals Plans for the 80+ Acre Agritourism Destination Scheduled to Open in Late 2017
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Life Is Brewing, LLC—the team behind Mantra Artisan Ales and the recently-launched Steel Barrel Brewery—has broken ground on Hop Springs at 6790 John Bragg Highway in the heart of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
A one-of-a-kind agritourism destination, Hop Springs is set on more than 80 acres on which Steel Barrel Brewery’s main brewing facility and taproom will be housed. Scheduled to be complete in late 2017, the first phase of Hop Springs will include a 2,000-seat amphitheater, a 10-acre hop field, wet and dry dog parks and scenic hiking and biking trails. Once complete, Steel Barrel Brewery at Hop Springs will be Tennessee’s largest craft brewery and second largest brewery.
In a partnership with Middle Tennessee State University, Hop Springs will also be home to a fermentation lab to be used by the MTSU Fermentation Science program. MTSU was granted legislation by the state that allows the university to permit students to do lab work at neighboring Steel Barrel’s brewing facility. Available for enrollment in fall of 2017, the MTSU Fermentation Science program is only the second certified program of its kind in the nation.
Founding partners include Maneet Chauhan and her husband Vivek Deora, as well as CEO Mark Jones and Brewmaster Derrick Morse.
Middle Tennessee’s newest craft brewery, Steel Barrel Brewery recently introduced its first line of craft beers earlier this year that are now available in various restaurants, bars and retailers throughout Murfreesboro and across the state.
Phase two of Hop Springs, which is set to begin in spring 2018, will include lodging as well as a multi-purpose event venue with further details to be announced.
