CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Travel back in time to the age of the troubadours as the local music group Red River Breeze presents “Merrie Market Music” with Celtic flair 7 p.m. July 22 at the Roxy Regional Theatre.
Red River Breeze will be performing traditional folk tunes from Ireland, Scotland and England, as well as other countries. The concert will feature previously unrecorded tunes and new repertoire from the band's upcoming album, slated for an early 2018 release.
Featuring the same creative energy and first-rate musicianship which has entertained packed houses at Red River Breeze's "Celtic Christmas Concerts" and last July's show, this summer's concert will highlight Stephanie Taylor on hammered dulcimer, recorders and bodhran; Melanie Beck on fiddle, bouzouki and mandolin; Vanessa Green on Irish whistle, guitar and harp; Esther Sooter on cello and vocals; David Magers on guitar, hammered dulcimer, djembe and vocals; and Nate Wojociechowski on djembe and hammered dulcimer.
Red River Breeze is an acoustic instrumental group playing traditional Celtic, Renaissance, Old-Time and World music. The band, which has been in existence for more than 15 years, has five albums to their name: Friday Night Favorites (May 2006), Morgan's Song (October 2009), The Wren at the Window (October 2011), The Bird Whisperer (May 2015) and The Babe of Bethlehem (December 2015).
The concert will run approximately two hours, including two 45-minute sets and a brief intermission. Copies of the band's recordings will be available for purchase during intermission and following the performance.
Tickets are $15 and may be purchased online at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org, by phone at 931-645-7699, or at the theatre during regular box office hours (9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, and one hour prior to the performance).
