NASHVILLE, Tenn. – British Airways have launched a new direct service between Nashville and London Heathrow operated with the state-of-the-art Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner beginning May 2018.
Governor Haslam and Nashville Mayor Megan Barry were in attendance for the announcement at the State Capitol. Gov. Haslam stated the flight will not only connect companies to Nashville, but the entire state of Tennessee.
BA223 will depart from London Heathrow at 3:45 p.m. local time and arrive into Nashville International Airport at 6:50 p.m. CT. BA222 will depart Nashville at 8.20 p.m., arriving in London at 10.30 a.m. the next day.
Designed to enhance customer wellbeing, the new fuel-efficient Boeing 787-7 Dreamliner can hold more than 200 passengers. The plane has a smooth ride technology which reduces the effects of turbulence, along with cabin air that is less dry, helping to minimize jet lag. Individual widescreen seatback monitors with audio and video on-demand options and the ability to connect personal devices to the onboard entertainment system will be included.
Nashville International Airport was named the fastest growing airport of its size (seeing an 11.2 percent growth in passenger traffic in 2016) and was awarded the Airport Traffic Growth from anna.aeo, an industry news and analysis organization, in June 2017.
