JACKSON, Tenn. – The 18th annual Rockabilly Music Festival brings the iconic rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll music to audiences Oct. 6-7 at the VFW on Airways Blvd. Music begins 7 p.m. each evening.
Mayor Jerry Gist gives the opening welcome and presents a Patriotic reading and the National Anthem will be performed. The opening ceremony will end with Dean Ross will lead several inducted members of The International Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame in performing Carl Perkins’ "Blue Suede Shoes,” a song that sent Rockabilly music spiraling around the world.
One of the world’s leading historic band leaders, Ace Cannon, will kick off the music festival. Floyd Curtis and The Boys from Memphis will present the special rockabilly and rock and roll music which was performed in Memphis.
Clyde Watson, Dean Yancey, Ken McDaniel, and C W Gatlin will join Dean Ross and The Southern Fried Band in performances throughout both evenings.
Tourists from around the world come regularly to visit the International Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame located in Jackson, Tennessee, where rockabilly music was born.
