Cookeville Prepares to Welcome 18 High School Football Teams to Tucker Stadium
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – State championship titles are at stake with 18 Tennessee high school football teams set to compete at the 2017 BlueCross Bowl today through Dec. 2 at Tennessee Tech’s Tucker Stadium in Cookeville.
The entire community comes together each year to host the games, an event that has made Cookeville-Putnam County home since 2009 and will remain for another four years. An extension was granted to continue hosting privileges as local representatives from Tennessee Tech, city, county, chamber and visitors’ bureau presented to the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association Board of Control in January 2017.
An estimated 30,000 to 40,000 fans will visit the city of Cookeville and the Tennessee Tech campus to enjoy that experience. For most of these students, it’s a once in a lifetime experience, and everyone in Cookeville and at Tennessee Tech work together to produce a first-class event for them.
