HUNTINGDON, Tenn. – Country music singer and songwriter, Pam Tillis brings her captivating style and sound 2 p.m. March 17 to The Dixie Carter Performing Arts and Academic Enrichment Center. Join Pam and her acoustic trio for an afternoon of awe-inspiring music and hits.
Pam Tillis’ career began with her Grand Ole Opry debut on the Ryman stage when she was eight years-old. She sang “Tom Dooley” with her dad, Mel Tillis.
She’s tried pop, soul and jazz- influences which can be heard in her music today. She’s worked as a back-up vocalist, jingle and demo singer, club performer, and song writer with artists like Chaka Khan, Juice Newton, Dan Seals, Gloria Gaynor, Conway Twitty, and Highway 101 recording her songs.
Pam has modeled for Glamour Magazine, appeared on Broadway for an extended run in Smokey Joe’s Café and had re-occurring guest roles on L.A. Law, Diagnosis: Murder and the hit TV show, Nashville.
But country music is Tillis’ natural style. She officially became a Grand Ole Opry member in 2000. Tillis also has three CMA Awards, including Female Vocalist of the Year Award in 1994, and two Grammy’s. Throughout her music career, she has earned 20 Top 10 hits, six No.1 singles, and has sold more than 7 million copies of her studio albums. Some of her most noted hits include “Maybe It Was Memphis,” “Shake the Sugar Tree,” “Mi Vida Loca” and “Cleopatra, Queen of Denial.”
