TENNESSEE SPORTS HALL OF FAME NAMES TITANS OWNER AMY ADAMS STRUNK 2019 ‘TENNESSEAN OF THE YEAR’
Nashville, TN – Feb. 22, 2019 – Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk will be honored as the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame 2019 Tennessean of the Year, it was announced today during a NFL Draft luncheon by Mark Ezell, Commissioner, Tennessee Department of Tourist Development. The draft comes to Tennessee for the first time this year in large part to efforts by Strunk, an unwavering advocate for the state and the Titans’ loyal fan-base. The honor will be formally presented at the Hall of Fame’s annual induction on June 15, 2019 at Omni Nashville Hotel, which will include one of the most-regarded induction classes to date. Inductees will be announced at a later date.
Strunk is being recognized as 2019 Tennessean of the Year for her considerable contributions to the sports community and the state of Tennessee since assuming the role of controlling owner of the Titans in 2015. She reinvigorated the organization and restored the passion and confidence of fans, and her commitment recharged the team leading to three straight winning seasons for the first time in franchise history. Strunk was considered the “ace in the hole” that landed the 2019 NFL Draft in Nashville, which is one of the biggest and most-watched sporting events of the year.
“Amy Adams Strunk sealed her place in the hearts of Titans fans, not only because of her incredible contributions to the sport, but because of her equal and unrivaled passion and commitment to the state,” said John E. Simmonds, President, Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. “I can’t think of anyone more deserving to represent the Tennessee sports community.”
Since 1982, the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame awards the Tennessean of the Year annually to an individual or organization for their leadership, outstanding character and contributions to the state through sports and beyond. Strunk joins an esteemed list of athletes, businesses and individuals including Pat Summitt (1988), Vince Gill(1995), James A. “Jim” Haslam (2006), James Franklin (2013), and most recently, the Nashville Predators.
