MONTEAGLE, Tenn. – The 14th annual Trails & Trilliums features guided hikes, daytime programs and more 5-9 p.m. April 7, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. April 8, and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. April. 9 at the Monteagle Sunday School Assembly.
Proceeds from ticket sales benefit South Cumberland State Park, Tennessee largest state park.
ART for the PARK
The annual ART for the PARK art show and sale takes place 5 p.m. April 7 in Harton Hall, next to the Assembly Auditorium and continues throughout the day on Saturday. 2017's ART for the PARK party, benefitting Friends of the South Cumberland, is themed “This Land is Your Land,” and will include a casual dinner with beer and wine bars. Come enjoy an early preview of this year’s art, native plant and vendor offerings.
FESTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND
Vendors will be indoors beginning 5-9 p.m. April 7 in the historic Monteagle Sunday School Assembly Auditorium, as well as 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 8. Overhill Gardens will have a broad variety of native plants for gardeners that will recreate forest enchantment at their homes in its usual location outside the auditorium.
On Friday and Saturday, both casual and dedicated hikers can explore the natural wonders of the South Cumberland Plateau with a series of guided hikes led by some of the area’s foremost naturalists. Hike details will be announced soon.
Family-friendly programs featuring birds of prey, fairy houses and natural dye making with native plants will be presented on the Mall at the Assembly.
WINE & WILDFLOWERS CELEBRATION
Participants gather over wine and appetizers to discuss their weekend adventures and to honor the 2017 Trails and Trilliums Award winner, the Southeastern Climbers Coalition, for their work in helping the Friends of the South Cumberland protect the new Denny Cove area of South Cumberland State Park. State Naturalist Randy Hedgepath will conclude the evening’s program with Appalachian Story Telling.
Guided hikes will continue on Sunday. Admission to the Assembly grounds is free; a pass that includes ALL hikes and daytime programs is $20; admission to Friday night’s ART for the PARK is $40; admission to Saturday night’s Wine & Wildflowers is $15 (all prices per person). An "all-access" pass is available for $75 per person.
