JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – The Town of Jonesborough will be participating in a statewide campaign to plant 250,000 trees in one day as part of the 250K Tree Day Event 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 24 at the Historic Jonesborough Visitors Center. It’s the largest tree-planting event in the United States.
Participants will be given a bundle of tree seedlings to take home and plant comprised of Wild Plum, White Pine, Redbud, Red Oak and Tulip Poplar. In addition to the tree giveaway, information regarding the importance of trees to the environment and proper tree planting location will be available.
Jonesborough’s Keep Jonesborough Beautiful Advisory Council is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and Keep Tennessee Beautiful. The goal and objective of these organizations is to educate and engage the public about the importance of community revitalization, conservation and economic development, which are solutions to improving the quality of life.
