FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The thrills and spills of professional rodeo stampede for the 68th annual Franklin Rodeo 7 p.m. May 18-20 into the Williamson Co. Ag Expo Center. Tickets are now on sale.
Fans are treated to the free event, Franklin Rodeo Experience 6-9 p.m. May 17 that includes live music, a meet and greet with rodeo personalities, and a food truck corral. The annual parade kicks off noon May 13 through downtown Franklin.
The rodeo cantina is back by popular demand! Fans can relax in the cantina prior to and during the rodeo, enjoy a Jack Daniels cocktail or a glass of wine from Our Wine Shop and watch the rodeo on closed -circuit TV.
The entertainment for this year’s rodeo is fan-favorite Troy Lerwill, rodeo’s “Wild Child,” with his death-defying motorcycle leap and a healthy dose of comedy on the side. On a dirt bike, Lerwill jumps a Ram truck and trailer.
The rodeo, a project of the Franklin Noon Rotary Club, raises funds for community organizations. Since the rodeo began in 1949, more than $2 million has been given to local charities, being donated to food pantries, for high school scholarships, housing, and more.
The rodeo brings awareness to breast cancer May 20 with its Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign. Fans are asked to wear pink; cowboys and cowgirls, plus the rodeo personnel don pink, and a portion of ticket sales from that night go to fight breast cancer at the Breast Health Center at Williamson Medical Center. In the past 11 years, $76,500 has been given to the Breast Health Center.
Tickets range in price from $10 to $20.
