PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. — After receiving feedback from guests, Dollywood officials have extended the park’s award-winning Smoky Mountain Christmas festival to 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2 and Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, now serving as operating days.
Due to a number of regional school systems remaining closed for Christmas break several days after the New Year begins, many guests have asked for the park to remain open longer to allow families with students more opportunity to visit Dollywood during the holiday season.
The move comes after a strong fall which included the debut of Great Pumpkin LumiNights and the kickoff of Smoky Mountain Christmas presented by Humana. The 2017 operating season, dubbed “The Year of the Family” by Dolly Parton, has already provided families with a number of exciting festivals, performing groups and two new attractions—Drop Line, a 230-ft. tall free fall experience, and Whistle Punk Chaser, a junior coaster designed for Dollywood’s younger visitors.
Named the 10-time winner for “Best Theme Park Christmas Event,” Smoky Mountain Christmas features heart-warming Christmas shows like “Christmas in the Smokies” and “It’s a Wonderful Life,” the joyous Parade of Many Colors, decadent holiday food and snacks, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and all of his friends. With 4 million dazzling lights and a festive environment, Smoky Mountain Christmas provides an awe-inspiring holiday atmosphere.
The additional operating days add even more value to a Dollywood season pass. Smoky Mountain Christmas guests can upgrade a paid one-day admission ticket to a regular 2018 season pass for as low as $30 (plus tax when buying four or more). Ticket purchasers receive credit for the value of a regular one-day ticket ($69) toward the purchase of a 2018 season pass. A season pass purchased during Smoky Mountain Christmas provides unlimited admission to this year’s Christmas festival along with Dollywood’s entire 2018 season. Additionally, for each child’s season pass purchased, families will receive a copy of Parton’s newest children’s album, “I Believe in You.” (A one-day ticket is valid for upgrade on the day of visit only.)
