JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – Flower lovers from across the region will venture to Jonesborough for the 21st Annual Garden Gala 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 3 at several private gardens in the area.
The Garden Gala brings back several private gardens from years past, some never-before-seen gardens, an elegant tea portion accompanied by well-known harpist, Martha Painter, gardening presentations and demonstrations.
The Annual Garden Gala is considered the official welcoming of spring in Tennessee’s Oldest Town and has been recognized nationally as an award-winning event.This day-long charity event is hosted by the Tuesday Garden Club and the Schubert Club, and supported by the Northeast Tennessee Master Gardeners and the Southern Appalachian Plant Society.
The self-guided walking tour will welcome back some of the most popular private gardens from the Garden Gala’s first year. This year, guests can “Look and Learn Behind the Garden Gate,” not only by enjoying the beautiful flowers on the tour, but also by learning from professional gardeners.
The tea will be held noon to 2:30 p.m. Enjoy homemade sweet and savory finger foods beneath gorgeous shade trees accompanied by harpist, Martha Painter.
There will be ongoing presentations and demonstrations that will cover how to begin gardening, building garden steps, how to compost, beginning a fairy garden and more.
Shuttle transportation and water stations will be available throughout the self-guided tour as needed.
There will be Marketplace Vendors setup 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the International Storytelling Center Plaza. Yard art, stained glass, plants, garden items, tools, garden-style jewelry, and other handcrafted items will be available for purchase.
Tickets are $16. For a group of 10 or more tickets are $13.
