KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Jubilee Community Arts announces programming for September featuring monthly dance events and Irish music at the Laurel Theater.
The Knoxville Square Dance is back 8 p.m. Sept. 14, Oct. 12, Nov. 9 and Dec. 7 at the Laurel. No experience or partner is necessary and the atmosphere is casual.
Live, old-time music by The Hellgramites and calling by Stan Sharp, Ruth Simmons and Leo Collins is featured. Guest band Hoot and Holler perform during the Oct. 12 event.
Admission is $7 and $5 for students and Jubilee Community Arts members.
Red-Haired Mary delivers Irish and other Celtic songs and tunes, sometimes in the Irish language and often in three-part harmony 8 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Laurel Theater.
Members of the band include Nancy Acuff, flute, tin whistle and vocals; Alycia Petrone, fiddle; Terry Schomer, bouzouki, guitar, mandolin, bodhran and bones; Margaret Scanlan, keyboards and vocals; and Tom Scanlan, bass, bodhran and vocals.
Tickets are $15.
