HUNTINGDON, Tenn. – Get tickets for an intimate acoustic evening with Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires Dec. 23 at the Dixie Carter Performing Arts & Academic Enrichment Center.
With six sold-out shows at The Ryman this October, it’s obvious Jason Isbell’s music strikes a deep chord with his fans. It’s smart. It’s honest. And it’s something his fans have come to expect from the 38-year-old performer from Green Hill, Alabama. Getting his start in the music history-steeped studios of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Isbell’s music reflects his roots, and this is something his fans appreciate. They connect with his authenticity, his rootedness in tradition and his nods to modern life. They appreciate his compelling rhythms, melodies and efficient language.
Isbell’s Springsteen approach has done more than win him diehard fans. It has won him critical acclaim. Jason Isbell is undeniably the king of Americana music. A two-time Grammy winner for Best American Roots Song and Best Americana Album, he has been nominated for 12 Americana Music Awards. Winning six, he holds three Americana Song of the Year awards, two Albums of the Year awards, and has been named Americana Artist of the Year. Isbell is this year’s CMA Hall of Fame Artist in Residence and is nominated for CMA’s Album of the Year Award.
His wife Amanda Shires is a talented artist with her own story to tell. Winning the 2017 Americana Emerging Artist of the Year, she is an accomplished vocalist, guitar player, and fiddler who completed post graduate work in poetry at Sewanee University. Growing up in Texas, she joined the Texas Playboys, the former backing band for Western swing legend, Bob Wills, when she was 15 years old. With five solo albums, her latest, My Piece of Land, centers on the idea of home- the one you were born into and the one you make for yourself. She tours with John Prine and with Isbell on selected dates.
Tickets are now on sale at www.DixiePac.net, and at The Dixie Box Office by calling 731-986-2100. Ticket prices are $50, $60, and $75. The media sponsor is Froggy 104.
