MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Peabody Memphis has been named the No. 2 hotel and The Hermitage Hotel in Nashville has been named No. 9 in The South’s Top 10 Hotels 2017. The Peabody Memphis has also been named the No. 1 Best Hotel in Tennessee 2017 by Southern Living magazine.
Southern Living’s list celebrates the “spectacular sights, inspiring destinations, and cultural institutions that define the South in 2017.”
To create the first-ever “South’s Best” list, Southern Living surveyed more than 22,000 readers on the best-loved places in 13 categories: bars, breweries, cities, hotels, inns, islands, museums, resorts, restaurants, shops, small towns, tailgates and barbecue joints.
Known as the “South’s Grand Hotel,” The Peabody is famous for its charm, elegance, generous hospitality, and the five resident Mallard ducks who march daily through the Grand Lobby at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. The luxurious downtown hotel opened in 1869 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
