Presidential Grandson will Keynote 120th Annual Spring Outing – Virtual Event on May 19th

April 13, 2021 - Nashville, Tenn. - The 120th annual Spring Outing will be held virtually on Wednesday, May 19. This year’s program features Clifton Truman Daniel, grandson of U.S. President Harry S. Truman and First Lady Bess Truman. In his presentation, “Glimpses of My Grandfather, The President,” Daniel will offer stories, insight and perspective on what it means to have a U.S. President in the family tree.

Daniel often portrays his grandfather on stage and is an author and sought-after speaker. We are thankful to the volunteer leadership of co-chairs Mary Lea Bryant and Amy Colton. All proceeds benefit the Andrew Jackson Foundation’s many education programs and preservation projects.

Clifton Truman Daniel is the oldest grandson of President Harry S. Truman and his wife, Bess. He is the son of author Margaret Truman and former New York Times Managing Editor E. Clifton Daniel Jr. Mr. Daniel is honorary chairman of the board of the Truman Library Institute, nonprofit partner of the Truman Presidential Library and Museum in Independence, MO, and board secretary of the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation. He is the author of Growing Up With My Grandfather: Memories of Harry S. Truman and Dear Harry, Love Bess: Bess Truman’s Letters to Harry Truman, 1919-1943. He is currently portraying his grandfather in the one-man stage show, Give ‘Em Hell Harry, as well as writing and lecturing on the Truman presidency.
