Sevierville, Tenn. (Oct. 18, 2021) – The holidays are all about traditions, which is why Wilderness at the Smokies is excited to announce it is bringing back its real ice skating rink in its outdoor Winter Wilderland November 12, 2021 - January 9, 2022.
“Being outside in the fresh air, ice skating together, is a wonderful family holiday tradition,” said Pete Tennis, managing director of Wilderness Resorts and Waterparks. “Enjoy some hot cocoa and s’mores at our fire pits in our special Winter Wilderland nearby and you have the making of a perfect family outing.”
The real ice rink, which occupies 3,200 square feet of the resort’s outdoor wave pool, will be open daily for resort guests and the public. The admission fee will be included with room rates if guests use Code: ICESKATE at the time of booking. At check-in, guests will be able to purchase admission for $20 per room per night. At the rink, admission will be for $12.99 plus tax for resort guests or $17.99 plus tax for the public and will include skates. The rink will be open from 10 am to 10:30 pm Saturday – Sunday, Thanksgiving and Christmas break; and 4 pm to10:30 pm Monday- Friday.
Tennis adds there are a number of fun things planned for the rink this year including an onsite DJ on Friday and Saturday nights from 7 to 10:30 pm.
For those who have never skated before, the resort will be offering skating lessons every Saturday (except December 4) between 9 -10 am. The cost of a lesson is $15 for 25 minutes or $25 for 50 minutes. Reservations will need to be made in advance at Smoky Mountain at inside Winter Wilderland.
On Saturday, December 4 from 7 am to noon Cool Sports will host youth hockey games featuring players from the Knoxville area. Select players and Chilly Bear from the Knoxville Ice Bears professional hockey team will also be onsite for the event.
Skate for a Cause
On Saturday, November 20 from 10 am-10:30 pm the resort will be hosting a special fundraiser for Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee where 100 percent of the public ice skating admissions will directly benefit the agency.
