HUNTINGDON, Tenn. – Guy Penrod will offer up an inspiring afternoon of southern gospel as part of the Dixie Live Series happening 2 p.m. Oct. 7 at The Dixie Performing Arts and Academic Enrichment Center.
Lead singer of the Gaither Vocal Band for more than 13 years and one of the most popular artists featured on the Gaither Homecoming video series, now solo artist Guy Penrod is synonymous with southern gospel hits and classic hymns.
The nationally-acclaimed vocalist is one of the most in-demand touring artists in Christian music. His powerhouse vocals and wide singing range are his trademarks when singing renditions of timeless classics like “Because He Lives” and “The Old Rugged Cross Made the Difference.” His country stylings, on the other hand, have gained him equal respect in the country music community. Guy has appeared on the Grand Ole Opry stage, as well as on numerous country recordings.
A Grammy and GMA Dove Award winner, Guy is also the host of Day Star’s Emmy winning “Gospel Music Showcase.” He has appeared on radio’s “The Mike Huckabee Show,” RFD-TV’s top-rated “Larry’s Country Diner” and one of North America’s most popular Christian television programs “100 Huntley Street.”
Most recently, his 2016 album, LIVE: Hymns & Worship debuted at No. 1 on billboard charts for music videos, #1 on the Southern Gospel chart and No. 2 on the billboard chart for Contemporary Christian Music. Penrod has been inducted into the Texas Gospel Music Hall of Fame and into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame alongside the Gaither Vocal Band.
Tickets to hear Guy Penrod at The Dixie on his “Pray About Everything” tour are $35.
