NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 1, 2022) – TAILOR, the award-winning South Asian American dinner party-style
restaurant, will welcome guests into its new 40-seat, 2,000-square-foot standalone home at 620
Taylor Street in Germantown beginning Thursday, Aug. 11. Vivek Surti and Heather Southerland will
continue to offer the tailor-made dining experience they are known for: a conversational, multicourse
dinner party inspired by Surti’s roots as a first-generation American of Indian descent with
engaging vignettes between courses to give guests context to the food they are served.
Surti teases that while the concept of TAILOR remains the same, the full kitchen in the new
space will allow the menu to fully express a multitude of South Asian dishes, including expanded
farsan, a category of Gujarati snacks, Indian breads and grilled items.
The design of the space will also give a nod to its original roots while continuing to delight
guests with new surprises. Elements such as TAILOR’s original butcher block countertop and the
iconic crystal chandelier from Surti’s childhood home have been moved to the new space to make
previous TAILOR guests feel right at home.
These familiar features are complemented by new design components from the team at
Pfeffer Torode, such as the traditional Gujarati rounded-top arch carved into the bar cabinetry and
echoed in the dining room entrance, six additional chandeliers throughout the space and rich
textures and fabrics on the walls. The tilework throughout the space also adds a noteworthy visual
both in its bold colors and in the detailed small gold tile “stitching” found around the bathroom
floor as a nod to the tailor name.
The attention to detail in the space mimics the high-touch hospitality the TAILOR team
offers as they welcome each guest into the TAILOR family. Reservations to experience the grand
opening summer menu are available now for two dinner services at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. four nights
a week, Thursday through Sunday, beginning Aug. 11. For more information or to book a
reservation, visit www.tailornashville.com.
