UNION CITY, Tenn. – The third annual Great American Airshow takes place 5 p.m. Sept. 16 on the Great Lawn at Discovery Park of America. It’s one of the premier kick-off events to the Obion County Cornfest happening all week.
Discovery Park of America waves admission beginning at 3 p.m. for guests to enter for free. Members and other guests who pay admission have the first opportunity to grab a spot on the Great Lawn to watch the show.
The beginning of the show features skydivers, planes flying in formation, music and a sky full of smoke, setting the stage for an evening of aerial swirling and twirling.
The fun begins 3 p.m. with music by The Elam McKnight band, bounce houses, beverage tents and yard games setting the stage for the evening ahead.
The air show is one of the first events of Obion County Cornfest, which is going on all week and includes activities such as beauty contests, fashion shows, Pride of Obion County luncheon and pig races.
In addition to the Great American Airshow, Cornfest also holds its annual concert and fashion show at the park. This year, the concert is 5:30 p.m. Sept. 15. Regional favorites Juliet and the Romeos take the stage 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Nashville favorites, the Nashvegas AllStars entertain the crowd as well. The Cornfest concert is free to the public.
