MEMPHIS, Tenn. (July 13, 2022) - After much anticipation, Memphis Zoo is excited to announce the Grand Opening of Monogram Foods Loves Kids Foundation Splash Park. The Splash Park will open to the public on Saturday, July 16th. Since September 2021, crews have been diligently working to bring our guests this one-of-a-kind splash park. All the water used at the Splash Park will be reclaimed and recirculated through a state-of-the-art filtration system. We hope to bring awareness to our amazing sources of water here in Memphis and educate visitors on the importance of protecting our future by protecting and conserving water.
The theme for the splash pad is Egyptian as a tribute to the very beginning of our city. Memphis, TN is named after the ancient city of Memphis, Egypt. The park is an immersive, zero-depth water play area with slides, dump buckets, interactive water toys, and even a special section just for toddlers. The Splash Park was built in the exact spot where the hippo yard and house stood for over one hundred years. The former hippo house will now serve as the Splash Park’s event center, which is great for groups, birthday parties, and other special events.
Over the years our visitors have repeatedly demonstrated that they enjoy the few water features at the zoo. We wanted to be a safe place that can be enjoyed by all even during the extremely hot days we experience in Memphis. The Splash Park is a great oasis for our visitors to cool off while spending a fun-filled day at the zoo.
We will offer two sessions each day in the morning and afternoon. The morning session will be 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the afternoon session will be 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Splash Park also has eleven luxury cabanas for rent for a little rest and relaxation. In addition to the cabanas, the splash park also features new public and family restrooms, a lactation room, lockers, and a food cart. Please note, coolers are not allowed in the Memphis Zoo or Splash Park. Splash Park rules and frequently asked questions can be found on our website at memphiszoo.org
We want to send a special thank you to Vortex who designed the park and to all our partners who supported us during the building stage.
